RAFFLE 4 HYDRO
Thanks to the six artists and others for contributing their art and other valuable items to help raise the $3063 in matching funds needed for the $24, 190 Vermont Municipal Planning Grant (MPG) awarded to Barton.
BACKGROUND: On December 2, 2013, Commissioner MacKay awarded a $24,190 MPG to Barton so it could more fully consider once again producing hydro power at Chrystal Lake Falls. This MPG requires $3063 in matching funds from Barton. This Raffle is one of the ways the Barton Hydro Re-examination Committee intends to raise this amount and thereby ensure that the Village is not so obligated.
In 1984-86, two studies were conducted analyzing small hydro production at the Falls. The second, a126 page study, is available at the Barton Library, on reserve, or available online at in the Resources section of this website.
The Stillmeadow Gardens $35 Gift Certificate (donated by Bruce and Elizabeth Urie of Stillmeadow Gardens – 758 Urie Rd. Craftsbury Common, 802-755-6713) was won in the first week of drawing by Ann Creaven.
